Grade 1: Our Church is a Community
We introduce our students’ to God’s love and what it means to be a Christian. We introduce our young students to the basic prayers and Catholic rituals that we celebrate.
Grade 2: We Gather as Believers
We learn what it means to practice a Christian lifestyle. Our main focus is forgiveness. God loves us unconditionally and will always forgive our sins. We learn that it is important to forgive others as well. We also prepare for the Sacrament of Reconciliation which will be celebrated in March.
Grade 3: Our Church is One
Our focus this year will be on the Church. We learn what it means to be One, Holy, Catholic, Apostolic Church. Our other main focus is the preparation for our First Holy Communion. This is a very special time which will be celebrated in May.
Grade 4: The Goodness of God
This year we focus on the Holy Trinity. We spend time discussing God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. We also talk about why all three are important to the Church.
Grade 5: The Sacraments
This year we learn about all 7 Sacraments, which are God’s Gift of Life. Each Sacrament is explain and thoroughly discussed. We learn why they are important and how we can continue to live each Sacrament everyday.
Grade 6: Answering God’s Call
This year we begin to talk about what God wants from all of us. We discuss how we can answer God’s call. We learn about God’s promise to us all and the gift of everlasting life.
* In addition to the weekly curriculum and Sacrament preparation, all of our grades work together to put on an annual Christmas Pageant which is performed in December. Our students learn different Christmas Carols and act out the Story of the Nativity. This is a wonderful celebration of God’s love to us and something our students and parents look forward to every year!
